Are you planning a vacation with your children and grandchildren this year?

With the economy in such a bad way for so many,
taking time to plan your vacation and budget is so very important to insure an enjoyable, stress free, family vacation.

A great idea to save money is to consider Vacation Home Rentals .  Many times you can find the perfect home or condo that will sleep eight to ten people.  The benefits to vacation rentals is your children can bring several of their friends along.  Many vacation rentals are pet friendly, too.   And one other money saving benefit is that you can prepare meals like breakfast and dinner saving that money for other things. Bring movies, books, games, and snacks to help pass the time.

While planning your vacation, here are some tips that should consider:

1. Plan on the activities you want, i.e., to sightsee or spend more time relaxing.  It’s always good to get input from family members who will be vacationing with you. Their input to the activities they prefer are important. Your goal is for everyone to have a great time, and you can always choose a combination of the two.

2. After you decide the type of vacation, have your children and/or grandchildren help you research destinations, activities, costs including discounts and coupons. With a better understanding of the costs of lodging and activities beforehand, there will be less arguing over money allowing for more enjoyment. To help with family vacation budgeting, use a budget worksheet, like the one above.  Vacationing during an off-peak season can save you a lot of money, too.

3. According to the Travel Industry Association, shopping is a popular vacation activity. If you find yourself usually shopping while on vacation, develop a separate shopping budget so you won’t find yourself out of money before your vacation is over.  This is a very important suggestion  to keep your from bringing out your credit card for spontaneous purchases.  Remember, your ultimate goal is to return from your vacation debt free... that means no credit card debt.   Download eBook now...

4. Vacation Home Rentals usually include TV/DVD, washer-dryer, an outdoor shower, a grill, and a play
area behind the house.   You won’t have to spend much on gas once you get there…because the right
vacation rental choice puts everything within walking distance.
